Yorkshire have taken six wickets during the second morning of their friendly against Leeds/Bradford MCC Universities at Headingley to stamp their authority on the three-day contest.
The students closed yesterday’s opening day on 46-0 in reply to 329-9 declared, but they have reached lunch today in trouble at 123-6 from 50 overs.
Jack Brooks has struck twice, while Tim Bresnan, Steve Patterson, Karl Carver and Will Rhodes have all added one each.
Wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd, standing in for England’s Jonny Bairstow, has taken three catches behind the stumps, while opener Steve Bullen, the top-scorer with 36, was bowled by Brooks and Joe Root’s brother Billy fell the same way to Patterson.
