YORKSHIRE are awaiting confirmation of the dates for Australia A's tour of India this summer before finalising a plan regarding Twenty20 overseas recruit Glenn Maxwell.
The innovative and powerful batting all-rounder had been signed for the vast majority of the NatWest T20 Blast competition.
His availability was only expected to be affected for the first one or two matches in May due to his commitments in the Indian Premier League with the Kings XI Punjab team.
But now Cricket Australia have selected the 26-year-old in their four-day squad for an A tour to India, which runs through July. At present, the dates are no clearer.
Yorkshire have their last six T20 Blast North Division matches scheduled in July, starting with a floodlit Roses clash with Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford on the first Friday of the month (3rd).
An early indication would suggest that Maxwell will still be available for seven or eight T20 Blast matches, although it would be no surprise to see a pre-tour training camp organised to throw an even bigger spanner in the works.
"We can't really comment too much on it until we know the exact dates and how many games he's going to miss," admitted Yorkshire director of cricket Martyn Moxon.
Yorkshire are not the only county to have been disrupted by Tuesday's announcement of Australia's winter tour parties.
Middlesex captain Adam Voges has been selected in their full Test squad for tours to the Caribbean and England from late May, while Lancashire are in the same boat with Peter Siddle.
World Cup winner Maxwell was a candidate for those tours, which would have certainly ruled him out of Yorkshire duty, but he narrowly missed out on the chance to add to his three Test caps, the last of which came in November.
Australia chief selector Rod Marsh said: "I rate him very highly. I love watching him play. I'd love to have him in every side that I could. It's a tragedy that we can't play him in every game at the moment – but watch this space."
The availability of Aaron Finch, Yorkshire's main overseas player, remains as expected. He will arrive at Headingley once his IPL duties finish with Mumbai Indians. Their last group match is May 17 and the final is a week later.
Finch will be available to play in all formats until he is required to join up with Australia's limited-overs squads in England in late August.
