England new boy Lyth has underpinned Yorkshire’s response to 221, advancing the overnight score of 82-2 to 181-4 from 55 overs at lunch on day two of the champion county fixture.
He shared 91 inside 29 overs for the third wicket with nightwatchman Steve Patterson, who added 36 before being bowled by Adam Riley’s off-spin in the midst of an action packed three overs shortly before lunch.
