RYAN Sidebottom took two of the three wickets to fall in Abu Dhabi as Yorkshire reached lunch on day one of the champion county fixture in a healthy position, with their MCC opponents on 107-3.
Sidebottom struck with the very first ball of the match, getting MCC captain Nick Compton caught behind by Jonny Bairstow.
Then when the left-arm veteran had Alastair Cook trapped lbw in the third over, the MCC were wobbling at 7-2.
Michael Carberry (36) and unbeaten James Hildreth steadied matters before Steve Patterson had Carberry caught at second slip by Adam Lyth in the 24th over to make it 81-3.
Hildreth and Daryl Mitchell were the players resuming after lunch, with Hildreth on 58.
