YORKSHIRE players were again to the fore as the England Lions took command of their match against a Gauteng Invitation XI in Soweto.
Wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow became the third tourist to retire out after a quickfire 62 from 95 balls in their 443, Alex Lees only adding three to his overnight 82 before being caught.
Opening bowlers Liam Plunkett and Jack Brooks then both took two wickets as the hosts were dismissed for 179 but the chief worry was leg-spinner Adil Rashid, whose 12 overs cost 66 runs and garnered only one wicket.
Adam Lyth, who made a century in the first innings, then scored 25 as the Lions struggled to 43-3 to lead by 307 with a day remaining.
