Three quick wickets for Tom Smith halted Yorkshire’s progress with the bat during the third morning of their County Championship match against Lancashire at Headingley.
Adam Lyth, on the way to a fifth half-century of the season, and Alex Lees shared a stand of 66 inside 25 overs for the first wicket before Smith struck three times in 16 balls.
He had Lees caught behind for 21, Kane Williamson (4) snared at second slip and Lyth at third.
When Lyth fell the ball after reaching 50, Yorkshire were 97-3 in the 31st over but advanced to 127-3 at lunch.
Yorkshire are replying to Lancashire’s 325 all out during yesterday’s second day, with Andrew Gale and Jonny Bairstow resuming after lunch.
