For a change, it was generally glorious cricket weather in the Mewies Solicitors Craven League, but some high scores were tinged with modest scores, and there were a couple of nail-biters.

One sad and worrying fact is the number of teams that turned out with only ten men. Haworth West End II and Bradley II could only get eight players onto the paddock, and in West End's case two of the players were young ladies.

There is quite a bunch up at the top of Division One, with five teams on ten points and four teams on seven points.

Leaders Ingrow St John’s travelled to Barrowford and saw the Bull Holme Oval side amass 177-9, with Shakeel Butt making 40 as Muhammad Sajjad took 4-60 and Nadeem Safdar 3-32.

In reply, the Saints skipper Omar Khatab led with 42 but his side fell 14 short of their target as Waseem Furqan took 4-56 and Ajmal Choudrhy 4-47.

Oakworth's Matt House (7-55) was in fine form at Beckfoot Lane as the home side were dismissed for just 69 in 28.1 overs.

Bingley Congs opener Andrew Copping carried his bat for 54 but there were also six ducks in the innings. The Cure Hill side strolled home for the loss of two wickets, with Gareth Marshall making 31 not out.

Embsay’s batters were out of sorts as they stumbled to 98 all out at home to Foulridge, with skipper David Wellock top-scoring with 25 as David Spokes took 4-11, John Lambert 3-21 and Kafeel Ishfaq 3-36.

The Noyna side had no problem knocking off the runs without losing a wicket as James Lickess made 44 not out and Spokes 43 not out.

Haworth’s day at York races in celebration of Karl Brown’s 40th didn’t appear to do them much good as they could only muster 96 at home to Crossflatts. The Ryshworth Park side cruised to a four-wicket victory, with Lee Bailey making 52 not out.

Riddlesden were restricted to 114 by Cowling at Grange Road, and the Keighley Road side could only manage 90 in reply.

Rob Greenwood top-scored with 43 to help Haworth Road to 171-8 at Baildon Bottom, with Jack Laycock taking 6-67. Visitors Thornton fell just nine short of their target with eight wickets down.

Division Two's joint leaders Chatburn and Glusburn both enjoyed success.

The Ribble Valley side entertained Bradley and restricted them to 133-7 after they were 89-1. Then the hosts had to battle hard before getting home by three wickets, with Ben Threlfall making 64 not out.

Glusburn were at home to Long Lee and rattled up 190-6, with Nick Williamson making 44. The Golden View side replied with 158, of which Steve Butterfield made 59 as Mark Pickles took 5-36 and Williamson 4-58.

Oakworth II moved into third after beating Barrowford II by 87 runs at Cure Hill.

Nivard Trowers (59) and Sam Nettleton (44) helped the home side  to a formidable 231-7. The red- rose side faded to 144, with James Lee taking 6-30 and Michael Davison 3-39.

Third-placed Ingrow went down by 16 runs at home to Denholme. The Bradford Road side made 173. Then, despite 84 from skipper Mark Price, the Hainworth side closed on 157-9.

Sandy Lane recorded the first win of the season in emphatic style just up the road at Wilsden. Raj Farooq (5-42) and Steve Carass (5-49) had the Windy Grove side back in the hut for 99, and the Greenwood Park side glided home for the loss of one wicket.

The elusive first victory still eludes newcomers Hepworth & Idle.

They were at Sutton and suffered a mauling, going down by 121 runs. Skipper Craig Thornton hit 80 and Richard Walker 37 as the Royd Hill side posted 181. Then Simon Doane (6-26) and Justin Holdsworth (3-11) ran through the Westfield Laners, who were dismissed for 60.

Division Three leaders Pendle Forest were at Bradford & Bingley and suffered a 31-run defeat.

Andy Dobson made 71 of the hosts' 105 all out as Adnan Khalid took 6-20. Dave Critchlow (4-24), Bradley Davis (3-7) and Ryan Norris (3-11) puts the skids under the Fence, who were dismissed for 74.

Ingrow St John’s II jumpedc to the top of the table. They were at home to Airedale and were dismissed for 109, of which Rohid Ali made 31 as Martin Casey took 5-42 and Joe Milner 4-64.

The visitors' reply was woeful as they crashed to 37 all out. No player reached double figures as 'Mr Extras' top-scored with 16. Mohammed Naveed was the most successful bowler with 4-9.

John Beckwith (51 and 5-33) had a good day for Gargrave as they entertained Haworth Road II and won by 13 runs.

Down at Sandylands, Haworth West End were the visitors and saw the home side Skipton CI post 166, despite the efforts of Andy Benfield, who took 8-68 off 23 overs. Martin Seward was the top- scorer with 56.

The Bronte side were undone by another fine bowling feat as Sam Smith claimed 8-50 off 19 overs to see them back in the pavilion for 118, of which opener Joe Holt made 49.

Junaid Jamshed (58) and Joe Jagger (38) helped Wilsden II to 164-7 at Cononley. The hosts looked down and out at 141-9 but a last-wicket partnership got them to within four victory before the last wicket fell. Andrew Starkey was the backbone of the innings with 62.

Thornton II plundered 233-4 at home to Embsay II. Tim Gates a superb 112 (20 fours, one six) and Mark Procter 73 not out (eight fours, one six) putting on 163 for the third wicket as Sam Arkwright took 3-51.

The first eight of the visitors' batting reached double figures but no-one was able to go on to a big score. Skipper Paul Wormald top-scored with 29 as Daniel Oldfield turned in a fine piece of bowling with 8-73 off 20 overs.

Division Four joint leaders Eldwick & Gilstead were at Hepworth & Idle II and figured in a high-scoring, close game.

The visitors won the toss and rattled up a massive 260-7, with Stephen Timperley making 84, Christopher Childs 44, Arnold Raistrick 35 not out and James Keighley 34.

In a pulsating finish, the Westfield Laners pulled up just two runs short of their target. Dale Wood made 65, Paul Medley 50 and Sean McEvoy 35 for the losers.

Oakworth III are level at the top after a good win over Glusburn II at Bronte Field.

Peter Schofield made 46 of the visitors' 134. Matty Lee was the star for the home side with 70 off 75 balls as they got home by four wickets in the 27th over.

Airedale II were struggling at 71-7 before No 9 Asad Ejaz smashed 151 not out to take the score to a superb 269-9. The eight-man Hainworth side could only make 89 in reply.

Crossflatts II were at home to Bingley Congs and hung on for a four-run victory.

Denholme II encountered few problems at home to Haworth II. The hosts made 148, with Martin Armitage getting 41 and Neil Spencer 40 as Gary Searby claimed 5-21. The Bronte side replied with 66, with Callum Foster taking 3-19 and Spencer 3-33.

Foulridge II bowler Imran Khaliq took 6-65 at Noyna as Riddlesden II totalled 140-8, of which opener Imtiaz Siddique made 58 not out. In reply, the home side were dismissed for 120, with T Munier scoring 40 not out as the wickets were shared.

Chatburn II top Division Five, and were in winning form at Cowling II.

The Keighley Road side posted 142-9, with Zahid Shafait making 47 as Travis Blezard took 4-42.

A total of 28 extras played a big part in the Ribble Valley side’s march to the points by three wickets. Paul Woodworth made 40 and Shafait took 3-39.

Eight-man Haworth West End II struggled to 98-7 at Penistone Park. Visitors Skipton CI II took 21 overs to reach their target for the loss of one wicket, with Mark Hodson scoring 48 not out and David Suter 37.

Cononley II won the toss and elected to bat at Greenwood Park, and Sam Akrigg 63 and Luke Ashworth 34 helped them to 158. Sam Mitchell claimed 4-34 and Andy Grace 4-38.

Then Sandy Lane II were hustled out for 108, with Grace top-scoring with 30 as Tom Rudden took 4-30.

Gargrave II plundered 172 at Bradley II, with Joe Wood and Stuart Weatherill both scoring 32. The Matthews Lane lads were knocked over for 45, with Weatherill taking 4-13.

Ten-man Long Lee II went down by five wickets at home to Sutton II.
