Division One newcomers New Farnley have taken over top spot in the JCT600 Bradford League second-team competition after they beat Baildon by 85 runs and previous leaders Woodlands suffered a nine-wicket defeat against Pudsey Congs.
Young batsman Rishi Limbechaya set up New Farnley’s latest win with a magnificent 105 not out, with Chris Hill (55) giving support in a total of 225-2. Baildon’s reply faltered to 140 as leg spinner Nat Skirrow took 6-34.
Woodlands saw their unbeaten record disappear as they were bowled out for 131 by Pudsey Congs, who lost just one wicket knocking off the runs led by James Lindley-Dawe (75no).
Lightcliffe also climbed above Woodlands after a five-wicket home win over Keighley. Michael Brooke made an unbeaten 92 as Lightcliffe passed Keighley’s score of 159 (Hassnan Qureshi 56) with 8.5 overs to spare.
East Bierley (215) continued their climb up the table with a 17-run win over Bradford & Bingley, who were in the hunt until veteran Richard McCarthy (66) and Hazah Iqbal (54) departed.
Defending champions Morley (180-7) got back on track with a 61-run success against Hanging Heaton, who were all out for 119 as Adam Larkin and Paul Kinder bagged four wickets each.
Chris Randall’s 101 not out was the highlight of Farsley’s 51-run win over Yeadon. Farsley made 209-7 before Yeadon, despite 52 from George Barker, slipped to 158 all out as Osama Ahmed (5-53) and James Higgins (4-27) did the damage.
Spen Victoria hit the day’s highest score as they defeated Saltaire by 156 runs to record their first win of the season in Division Two.
Peter Jackson led the way with 110 and he was well backed up by Tom Loker (92) and Oliver Webster (63) in a total of 315-5. Adel Nazir made a defiant 71 as Saltaire were all out for 159 in reply.
Another century maker was experienced Windhill batsman Maz Bhatti, whose 112 not out guided his side to 230-8 as they defeated Brighouse (Nick Patefield 72) by 37 runs.
Leaders Undercliffe had a close call against bottom team Great Horton (151 – Mohammed Siddique 56no, Adam Ahmed 5-38), eventually scraping home by one wicket after former Undercliffe skipper Abid Jahangir (5-31) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (4-24) threatened an upset.
Cleckheaton won by two wickets at Idle, with Elliott Hallas making 47 as they overhauled Idle’s 140-9, while Joshua Wilson took 5-21 as Pudsey St Lawrence (222-7 – Matthew Beckett 52), Archie Scott 50) rolled over Hartshead Moor for 60 to record a 162-run win.
An unbeaten 94 from George Senior and 52 by Ian Grant helped Gomersal to 197-4 as they defeated Bowling Old Lane by 14 runs.
