Match of the day in the All Rounder Cricket Equipment Central Yorkshire League on Saturday is at Mount Pleasant, where leaders Batley take on second-placed Liversedge in a key Championship Division contest.
Last week’s wash-out, no game being completed, was frustrating for all except clubhouse stewards, who found themselves busy than usual in the pouring rain.
But this was all the more frustrating for a Batley side desperate to get back into the top flight after last year’s relegation.
Three successive wins had given them some momentum and they will be keen to get back into action against a Liversedge side with only one defeat from four.
Buttershaw St Paul’s, at home to Oulton, are at the other end of the table.
In the Premier Division, unbeaten joint leaders Scholes face what could be their toughest test of the season when they travel to reigning champions Townville.
Meanwhile, Birstall – at Methley – Ossett, at Hunslet Nelson, and Mirfield Parish, at Carlton, also have difficult games to negotiate.
Mirfield Parish Cavaliers are perhaps the most likely to come away with a win if Sunday’s desperately unlucky six-run defeat at Pudsey Congs, in the Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup, is any indication.
Unbeaten Westwood Park take on Adwalton, at Horton Bank Top, in a bid to pursue their First Division promotion ambitions.
Mirfield have a free week from competition.
