Yorkshire have taken another two Durham wickets in the afternoon session of day three as they bid for a second LV= County Championship win of the season.
Durham still need 168 to avoid the follow-on having reached tea at 272-5 from 83 overs.
Liam Plunkett had opener Mark Stoneman lbw offering no shot for a career best 131 during a hostile spell before home skipper Paul Collingwood was bowled as he attempted to pull Adil Rashid.
Stoneman and Michael Richardson, who will resume this evening on 98, shared 136 inside 44 overs for the fourth wicket either side of lunch.
Yorkshire took the second new ball two overs before tea.
