The first round of games in the Bradford & District Evening League were badly affected by the weather, with only two games being completed.
Tong Park Esholt’s Brett Kinsey (3-10) and Neil Cooper (3-17) ripped in to Salem’s batting line-up, dismissing them for 87.
Andrew Bourne then hit a rapid 30 not out to ensure that the home side beat the weather to claim the points.
In Division Two, Chris Brown (50no) and Ricky Hassall (44) put on a century second-wicket partnership to help Wibsey Park Chapel set an imposing total of 139-5, Syed Kazmi taking an impressive 3-24 for Indian Panthers.
Tight bowling and fielding then restricted the visitors to 80-6 as last year's Division Three champions got off to a winning start.
Other notable performances were Bradley Osbourne (49no) and Steve Beck (41no) helping Queensbury to 97-3 off 13 overs at Mayfield, while John Breare’s Ben Waller hit a quickfire unbeaten 47 at Thornton before both matches fell victim to the weather.
Andrew Deegan took three wickets for league new boys Buttershaw st Paul’s, who had visitors Cambing rocking at 74-8, while Bingley Congs may have been grateful for the rain’s intervention as Chris Welch (50no) and Bevan Williams (38) led Division One champions Denholme to 129-2 off 14.2 overs.
All clubs are reminded that they must phone the score and send a match report in if the game starts but is not completed.
