Lightcliffe's former Yorkshire and Derbyshire batsman Chris Taylor has earned a four-year sponsorship deal with the Central Yorkshire League for his Headingley-based All Rounder Cricket Equipment company - but the deal came as a surprise for outgoing sponsors Solly Sports in Dewsbury.
Saviletown-based businessman Solly Adam expressed his "disappointment" at the Central Yorkshire League decision to end their sponsorship with his sportswear company in favour of the new deal with Taylor.
Adam felt the league had gone behind his back and had not had any warning of the change.
"I have been sponsoring for the last four years and expected to carry on," he said. "At no time was I asked, or given the opportunity, to improve on the deal.
"I have nothing against Chris - he is a good man and knows his cricket - but the Central Yorkshire League has always been my league. I have played for several clubs in the league and I am based in the area.
"But there are no hard feelings, and my door is always open. If the Central Yorkshire League want to come back to me at a later date, I am always willing to help them."
Adam has won several honours in the Central Yorkshire League and also played with distinction fror Spen Victoria in the Bradford League, captaining them to the Second Division title in 1987 and the Priestley Cup three years later.
His contacts in India and Pakistan have also seen him supply many current or future international stars to the Bradford League.
