The first round draw for the Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup, which was made at Gomersal Cricket Club last night, has some plum ties.
Chief of those on Sunday, April 20 is the all-Bradford League clash between league champions Cleckheaton and promoted New Farnley, who lost in last year’s final to Hanging Heaton.
Other ties to catch the eye are Pudsey Congs hosting Wrenthorpe, who won the event five times in six years from 2007, and Spen Victoria hosting Central Yorkshire League champions Townville.
No less interesting are Halifax League double winners Jer Lane’s visit to Hanging Heaton.
Cleckheaton v New Farnley apart, the only other all-Bradford League tie is Woodlands at home to Hartshead Moor.
Solly Sports Heavy Woollen Cup first round: Cleckheaton v New Farnley, Pudsey Congs v Wrenthorpe, Shepley v Birstall, Clayton West v Delph & Dobcross, Spen Victoria v Townville, Wakefield Thornes v Methley, Woodlands v Hartshead Moor, Gomersal v Moorlands, Golcar v Liversedge, Skelmanthorpe v Scholes (Central Yorkshire), Shelley v Ossett, Hanging Heaton v Jer Lane, Scholes (Huddersfield League) v Kirkburton, Baildon v Slaithwaite, Barkisland v Morley, Mirfield Parish Cavaliers v Buttershaw St Paul’s.
