Bradford Mutual Sunday School League secretary Taj Butt has warned clubs that play on Bradford Council-owned grounds that they may soon have to help themselves.
He said in his address to the League’s annual meeting at Clayton Rugby League Club: “We know that most of our clubs play on local authority grounds and, because of cuts by the council, clubs can no longer expect to turn up at 1pm on a Saturday and just play.”
His point was backed up by prospective new club Parkside, who say they have been promised council help for 2014 at Bowling Park but after that they are on their own.
Butt added that new technology is a way forward for clubs. “We have to adapt to this,” he said.
* Mutual League club Bradford Indians are recruiting new players for the 2014 season.
