The Bradford Mutual Sunday School League have made a hefty loss of £1,800 on the year ending October 31.
This is a dramatic turnaround from a profit of £836 last year, with almost £1,000 of the difference being down to a reduction in fines.
A total of £2,103 in fines were collected in 2012 but only £1,158 this year.
Another significant difference was the money collected from annual dinner tickets – £1,760 this year compared to £2,292 in 2012 – which led to overall income being £5,823 compared to £8,050 12 months ago.
Unpaid fines of £600 did not help and there was also the Yorkshire Cricket Association affiliation fee, which was £672 last year, to pay.
Treasurer Kay Hemingway told the league’s annual meeting at Clayton Rugby League Club: “We have made a massive loss.”
League chairman Nick Spachis added: “We expect clubs to have paid their dues before this meeting and six have not.
“It is becoming a joke and I am sick and tired of it. I can understand £10 here and £30 there but I cannot understand the £248 that Greenfield owe.
“We need to make this league more profitable but nothing will be spent by this league unless it is approved by the executive committee.”
All of the money owed was paid by three days after the annual meeting but one solution was that the league should seek sponsorship.
Fixture secretary Graham Langton said: “We don’t spend money willy-nilly as a league, we just do what we have to do.”
He added: “Seven teams haven’t paid their league registration fees and 12 haven’t sent their umpires’ forms back.
“Two clubs have named the same umpire and one an umpire that is refusing to officiate.
“I agree with Steve Broadbent (Muff Field representative) at times. Clubs are taking the mickey. Respect the rules.”
