Five Yorkshire players have been named in England’s under-19s squad for their forthcoming one-day tour of the UAE.
Left-arm spinner Karl Carver, seamer Matthew Fisher, all-rounder Will Rhodes, seamer Josh Shaw and batsman Jonny Tattersall will travel to the Gulf this weekend to play in a tri-series with their counterparts from Pakistan and the UAE.
It will be a warm-up for the under-19s World Cup, which takes place in the same part of the world in January.
Fisher, Rhodes and Tattersall all made their Yorkshire first-team debuts in 40-over cricket last summer, while Carver was named in the squad for the last LV= County Championship match of the summer against Surrey.
Carver was named as the county’s 2013 Academy Player of the Year.
England’s first of eight possible matches on tour comes with a practice match in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
