Iain Wardlaw has received further recognition by Scotland after being called into their squad to face a strong Australia A squad in their four-day match starting in Edinburgh on Friday.
Having initially been called up during the winter, Wardlaw has since played three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 internationals but this week’s encounter at The Grange promises to be his toughest test yet.
The Australia A squad contains seven players – Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon, Brad Haddin, Jackson Bird, Ryan Harris and Usman Khawaja – who are also in their squad for the Ashes series.
Wardlaw was due to perform 12th-man duties for Yorkshire’s championship match against Nottinghamshire at Scarborough, but play was washed out before lunch with steady drizzle after Yorkshire won the toss and elected to bowl.
