Yorkshire’s top order is already one of the strongest in the LV= County Championship – but captain Andrew Gale is convinced there is more to come.
The White Rose side have posted eight four-day centuries this season, which is more than anyone else in Division One.
Ahead of Wednesday's trip to fortress Scarborough to take on Nottinghamshire, Adil Rashid has scored three hundreds in his last three innings, and Gary Ballance and Adam Lyth have also raised their bats.
The other three hundreds have come from absent England duo Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow.
But Gale, Phil Jaques and Joe Sayers have yet to really hit top form.
Sayers is the only one desperately struggling for form and unsure of his place having not passed 24 in four Championship innings, while Gale hit 75 in last week’s draw against Somerset and Jaques has looked good in 40-over cricket even though his only four-day fifty was in the first game of the season against Sussex.
“I think the most encouraging thing is that someone’s always standing up and doing the job,” said Gale, who admitted that was not the case during their last Division One campaign in 2011 when they were relegated.
“People say before the games ‘oh you’ll miss Rooty and Bairstow”, but Lythy got a hundred in the first innings (against Somerset), Adil’s in the form of his life, I got runs in the game and Jaquesy looks like he’s got a big score around the corner.
“Usually in 2011 one guy got 70 and everyone else failed. It showed against Somerset that there were a couple of hundreds, I got 70, Gary Ballance got 40 - everyone chipped in.
“If you’re going to win games of cricket in the First Division, you need to put big totals on.”
Yorkshire have only lost one of their last 18 Championship matches at Scarborough dating back to September 2004, a run which has included seven wins.
Last year’s wins over Leicestershire and Gloucestershire were key to their Division Two promotion campaign.
“Over the years we’ve always done pretty well there,” added Gale. “In my time I can only remember losing one game there.
"It’s a pitch we know how to bowl and bat on, and it’s a good wicket. We’re excited to go there.”
