Hanging Heaton saw their run in this season’s ECB National Cup come to an abrupt end as they suffered a disappointing 63-run defeat by Doncaster Town at Bennett Lane.
They were outplayed by their Yorkshire League opponents and were again made to pay for a worrying batting collapse.
Doncaster Town opted to bat first after winning the toss, and their openers Simon Widdup (55) and Gareth Cox (32) gave them a solid start with a partnership of 62.
James Stuart (30) added useful runs as Doncaster Town compiled 195-7. Hanging Heaton skipper Mark Lawson was the best of their bowlers with 3-24.
Then Hanging Heaton made a disastrous start to their reply, being reduced to 18-4, and they never recovered.
Lawson (39) and David Stiff (30) attempted to repair the damage but Curtis Free (4-35) was in no mood to let the home side off the hook, and Hanging Heaton were all out for 132.
