Brighouse produced the day’s shock result in Division Two of the JCT600 Bradford League when they defeated second-placed New Farnley by eight runs.
The hosts seemed to be in trouble at 41-4 but Sohail Hussain stoked ten fours in a priceless 55 and skipper Umar Salim made a battling 43 as their side posted 180.
Nadeem Hussain (4-24) and Nick Walker (3-42) were the pick of the New Farnley bowlers.
When New Farnley batted, they lost wickets at regular intervals.
Hussain (45) and Lee Goddard (34) tried to propel their side to victory, but Brighouse held their nerve, with Zafar Jadoon taking 4-41.
Leaders Farsley recorded their ninth straight win as they defeated Idle by nine wickets.
Spinner Mark Harrison (4-21) and Ian Philliskirk (4-31) exploited Idle’s brittle batting as they dismissed the Cavendish Road side for 111.
Joe Greaves (57no) and Andrew Duckworth (42no) wasted no time in powering their side to victory in just 16.3 overs.
Keighley’s miserable run of defeats continues as they went down by 95 runs at the hands of third-placed Spen Victoria.
Left-arm spinner Ben Platt took 6-29 and off-spinner Craig Woodhead (3-24) as Keighley were dismissed for just 95.
Skipper Dan Shuffe was the key contributors in Spen’s innings of 190-9. He made 71, despite the efforts of Ross Towler (4-55) and Joe Stead (3-67).
Windhill’s Fakhar Hussain was in the runs again. Just seven days after hitting a league-record equalling 214 against Great Horton, the overseas player made 95 but could not save his side from a five-wicket defeat against Yeadon.
Hussain dominated the Windhill innings of 160 but that total proved below par as Oliver Halliday made an unbeaten 80 to power Yeadon to victory.
Halliday struck four sixes and ten fours as only Hussain (3-50) threatened with the ball.
Gomersal picked up a maximum 20 points after defeating Hartshead Moor by just seven runs in a tight encounter at Oxford Road.
Half-centuries from Richard Gould (67), Greg Pickles (53) and Andy Gorrod (52), plus 39 from skipper Adam Greenwood, saw Gomersal made 256-9.
Hartshead Moor made a bold bid to try and force victory. Craig Field (65), Will Smith (44), Sean Raven (38) and Graham Hilton (32) kept the scoreboard ticking over, but Rob Ellis (3-32) ensured that Gomersal took the win.
Bankfoot also secured maximum points as they brushed aside Great Horton to win by 135 runs.
Hisan Ahmed (51no), Nigel Hanson (40no) and Neil Nicholson (34) took Bankfoot to 228-6.
Great Horton were never in the hunt when they replied and were bowled out for 93 as Hanson took 4-11 and James Sawyer 4-19.
Mukdas Mohammad (4-6) and Michael Kelsey (3-23) helped dismiss Bowling Old Lane for 97 as Undercliffe eased to a 57-run win.
They had made 154 batting first, with skipper Ben Heritage scoring 49 and Nawaz Sardar (33). Spinners Mahboob Hussain (5-24) and Devraj Patel (3-28) bowled well for Old Lane.
