Week seven of the Dales Council League season turned out to be less than magnificent for leaders Pudsey Congs, who tumbled to their first Division A defeat of the season at home to in-form Saville Stars yesterday.
Batting first, Congs were dismissed for just 90, with Shiraz Patel returning 4-19 for the visitors.
The Dewsbury-based side didn’t have things all their own way, reaching their target of 93-6 thanks in the main to Tahir Raza, who hit an unbeaten 38 to end the leaders' 100 per cent record.
Second-placed Cookridge (154-3, Rob Ford 56no) reduced the gap at the top to just eight points after recording a seven-wicket win at Baildon (150, Danny Bailey 72).
Free-scoring New Wortley kept in touch with the top two, this time rattling up 314-4, with both Sunil Suskandla (118) and Shazad Mehmood (101) hitting unbeaten centuries at Adel, who replied with 197-5.
Halifax Direct (150-9) completed a 34-run win at struggling Crompark (116), who slipped to the foot of the table to share with Adel.
Leeds Sikh (127, Gary Eckard 4-46) had a welcome win over visitors Farnley Hill, who were shot out for just 53 in reply (Hari Seehra 5-15).
In the final top-flight fixture, Shipley Providence (121) recorded a 19-run win in a low-scoring affair over visitors Hepworth & Idle, who were dismissed for 102.
With Division B leaders Tong Park Esholt having a day off, Thornbury (120) took over the leadership after recording a 34-run win at Farsley (86).
Bradford Moor moved into second place with a (128-0, Adil Wahid 68no, Irfan Sadiq 58no) with a comprehensive ten-wicket win at at home to Drighlington-Whitehall (127).
The closest finish of the day occurred when Undercliife entertained Pudsey St Lawrence.
Undercliffe made 143 (Haris Munir 41, Maaiz Khan 40 Keith Marsden 4-43). St Lawrence just got over the finishing line at 146-9.
Hepworth & Idle B (80-4) recorded a six-wicket win at home to Baildon B, who had been dismissed for just 77 (Brian Heaton 4-10).
In Division C, Shipley Providence B (222-9, Qasim Naqvi 53, Umar Malik 51, Basharat Mehmood 41) took over at the top after a 78-run victory at Thornbury B, who were dismissed for (144, Hassan Khan 47).
