The dismissal of Somerset captain Marcus Trescothick for 74 in the latter stages of today’s afternoon session at Taunton has kept Yorkshire’s LV= County Championship victory hopes alive.
Trescothick was the cornerstone of a healthy home response to Yorkshire’s 450-5 declared, but Rich Pyrah had him lbw to leave the score at 103-3. Somerset added nine more to their total to reach tea on day three at 112-3 from 35 overs.
The Cidermen need to reach 301 to avoid the follow-on, which will be key to the outcome of this match with only four sessions left.
Steve Patterson struck twice to get Arul Suppiah and Lewis Gregory, who offered no shot, lbw.
Dean Elgar will resume on 21 not out after tea and James Hildreth on eight. There are still 37 overs left to be bowled.
