I got a call a few weeks ago from Graham Gooch asking if I wanted to come and have a few net sessions with him in the build-up to the Test match at Headingley, so I jumped at the chance.
I was in the nets before England started training on Wednesday and Thursday.
Then, once their session had finished, I had another net. I was also involved in the warm-ups and fielding practice with the squad. It was a nice, relaxed time, and it was a good experience.
Graham is obviously one of the best batting coaches around. It was the first time I had worked with him, having only worked with Mark Ramprakash and Graham Thorpe with the Lions.
But hopefully in the next few years, I will be able to work with him some more.
It was good to be able to meet the England lads who I didn’t know to see how they work.
I was able to have a very brief chat with Alastair Cook and Andy Flower - nothing more than just to say hi really because they were concentrating on preparing for a Test match.
I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself, as I have always said. But it is nice to know that they are thinking about me.
It is an important week for Yorkshire with a couple of 40-over matches and one in the Championship at Somerset tomorrow.
It is quite tough to get into the 40-over semi-finals with only the top team in each group guaranteed qualification.
And after losing two already, we are probably going to have to get a win against Middlesex at Radlett today to stay in contention.
Middlesex are a good side, but if we play how we know we can do, we have got a great chance.
Our main focus is on the Championship. Obviously we want to win every competition, but you do need to rest some players at times.
I still believe we have got enough quality players in our squad to be able to challenge. We just need to get on a roll.
Somerset will no doubt be hurting from their defeat inside two days against Sussex at Horsham last week, but they will be a different proposition on their home ground at Taunton. They will be desperate to bounce back.
We have been playing some really good cricket though, culminating in the win against Warwickshire at Edgbaston the week before last.
If we can play like we did there, we will give ourselves a great chance of getting our fourth win.
