Challenge College’s staff won a thrilling clash against their students by one run after a Ten10 match.
The staff scored 99 on a lush, green wicket with helpful overhead conditions, openers Mahesh Patel and Harshad Taylor both retiring after rattling up a 30 partnership in three overs, aided later by big-hitting from Abdul Sattar, John Airnes and Khalid Mehmood.
However, a flurry of wickets followed to give the students some hope.
Their skipper Imran Uddin increased that by taking advantage of some sloppy staff bowling but Sattar and Atta then brought the staff back into it.
After a pitch invasion by watching students amid increasing tension, the students, inspired by Uddin, needed 15 from the final over, and just fell short after hitting 13.
The match was an appetiser for the much-anticipated clash later in the summer between an All Star International XI and the Challenge College students.
