Yorkshire are hoping to make their summer picture perfect!

The White Rose county are doing all they can to give their players the best possible chance of succeeding, starting with their England trio at this weekend’s Headingley Test match.

Jonny Bairstow, Tim Bresnan and Joe Root will arrive at their home ground ready to face New Zealand on Friday to find the players’ area in the Carnegie Pavilion decked out with inspiring montages of Yorkshire’s past and present.

It is an idea of the club’s new communications manager Danny Reuben, aimed at giving all players extra inspiration throughout the season as they chase international and domestic honours.

There are five components to the idea, which has been completed in the last week, incorporating the corridor outside the dressing rooms, the players’ dining room, the viewing gallery and the stairway down onto the field.

There is a timeline of the club’s history, a montage of the current squad, international moments of magic at the ground, a honours board of capped Yorkshire players and inspiring statements.

A message outside the home dressing room reads ‘This is where Yorkshire legends are made. Are you ready to join them?’ and one above the entrance to the field reads ‘There is a place in Headingley’s history waiting for you. Are you ready to join the legends?’

The international moments of magic montage is replicated for the public behind the West Stand.

“I spoke to Danny about wanting to make the place feel more our own instead of having a lot of blank walls,” explained director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon.

“He came up with the idea of putting the history of the club, the history of the ground and the current players on the walls. It’s a really good feature.

“The idea is that it makes everybody feel like it’s their home going forward, not just the three lads this week.”

Asked whether there was space left to mark a first LV= County Championship title since 2001 if that were to happen in September, Moxon added: “If that comes to fruition, there will be plenty of room.”

Yorkshire’s squad, including Moxon, are having a team day out for Friday's first day.

White Rose and England Lions batsman Gary Ballance was invited to train with the full squad today and tomorrow as part of his development.

Meanwhile, Yorkshire youngsters Gurman Randhawa, Jack Leaning, Jonathan Tattersall and James Wainman will share England’s 12th man duties.
