Nasser Jamal started and finished the downfall of Woodhouse with a stunning spell of bowling as Thackley eased into the second round of the Waddilove Cup.

Jamal parted the visitors’ opening pair before a run had been scored and completed a 5.4-over spell, which included five maidens, by trapping Woodhouse’s last man lbw.

His 3-1 figures, together with Andy Stothart’s 3-37 and a couple of victims each for Mahir and Yasser Ali, restricted Woodhouse to 123.

This was a target Thackley passed with seven wickets in hand, Yasser Ali (47) and Chris Luxton (38no) leading the chase.

Skipton (162-3) pulled off the only giant-killing of the first round in the Aire-Wharfe League’s premier knockout competition.

They backed up their excellent start in Division Three by knocking out Division Two outfit Bardsey (161-8), with Steve Carling (67no) and Arshad Latif (52) heading the scoring.

A fourth-wicket stand of 58 between Chris Wynd (53) and Red Bolton (34) helped last season’s losing finalists Ben Rhydding to 144-8 before Forrest Hamilton (6-20) skittled out Guiseley for 95.

Nick Brook followed up his unbeaten Saturday half-century with 120 not out and enjoyed a third-wicket stand of 138 with Ed Brown (74) as Burley raced to 248-5.

Neil Davies (4-28) made sure Horsforth were never in the chase and they were finally all out for 166 in reply.

James Davies smashed 106 off 84 balls in Otley’s 264-8 and Andy Rhodes followed up a knock of 36 with 6-10 in six overs to bowl out Knaresborough for just 84.

Andrew Doidge (65) was the hero as Rawdon recovered from 54-5 to post 180 and even though Roshan Livera hit an undefeated 54, Harden were still 26 runs short of their target at the close on 155-8.

Bolton Villas also staged a recovery, Sayed Hashimi (52no) taking them from 55-8 to 126-9. But it was not enough to stop Green Lane, with Jake Wray (60) top-scoring as they eased home by six wickets.

The Denton Road ‘classico’ went Ilkley’s way as they bowled out Olicanian for 98 after running up 242-8.

And the gap in divisions showed as Addingham (95) lost heavily to Bilton (332-6) and Calverley were rushed out for 42 in response to Pool’s 175-7.
