Yorkshire conceded 60 runs in the last five overs of the Unicorns’ innings at Chesterfield but it would still be a major surprise if they did not chase down a 190 target to get off the mark in the Yorkshire Bank 40.
Some clean lower-order striking from Aneurin Norman, who finished 38 not out off 26 balls, helped the hosts to 189-9 after they had been 129-7 after 35 overs.
The Unicorns won the toss and elected to bat against a Yorkshire side who lost their opening two Group C matches.
Rich Pyrah finished with three wickets, while Steve Patterson and the excellent Adil Rashid (2-27 from eight) picked up two wickets each. In fact, all three struck twice in an over on a slow pitch.
Fast bowler Moin Ashraf was a late withdrawal for Yorkshire with a migraine.
