Former Bradford Central League treasurer Syd Craven has died aged 72.
A stalwart of Allerton Cricket Club, Syd, who worked for the Post Office, was also involved with the Bradford Junior League as results secretary for the under-13s and under-15s.
Bradford Junior League chairman Michael Hope said: “He was a very good man, a very lovely man but an insular man.
"As a results secretary, he was very diligent and never gave me any bother.”
Syd, who was also a life vice-president of the now defunct Bradford Central League, was replaced as their treasurer in 2004 by David Allen.
The latter said: “Syd was involved with Thornton (running the juniors) and latterly Denholme Clough via his friendship with former Central League president Alan Parkinson.
“Syd kept Allerton going for years.”
Parkinson said: “Syd worked in the wages department for the Post Office in Bradford city centre, and sometimes worked on the counter.
“He also almost became national treasurer, narrowly losing out, and was a local Labour Party agent when Edward Lyons was MP for Bradford West.
“There will be no funeral for Syd, which is a bit of a nuisance as a lot of people have been getting in touch, but we will probably have an informal gathering for him at some stage.”
