The Bradford & District Evening League, which starts tomorrow night, have decided to level the playing field in their top two divisions.

Three teams will be relegated and only one promoted at the end of the 2013 season, with teams deciding to bite the bullet in order to ensure home and away matches against every other team in Division One and Division Two.

There will therefore be nine teams in Division Three next year, with one side being spare every Wednesday.

Meanwhile, league secretary Steve Priestley has warned clubs about the use of social media.

At the league’s pre-season meeting at East Bierley Cricket Club, he said: “Social media guidelines have arrived from the Yorkshire Cricket Board, so please be respectful of others and use your common sense.”

League vice-president Brian Lymbery also issued a warning after a missive from the ECB’s legal department.

He said: “If umpires feel that the body language of players is threatening they can insist that only English is spoken on the field of play.”

Six clubs have joined the league - Keighley, Oakworth, Wibsey Park Chapel, Stonewhite, Thackley and Shipley Providence - and will be up against Queensbury in a newly-formed Division Three.

Haworth Road are favourites to retain the Division One title they have won for the last two years, but they may be weakened by the loss of a couple of players.

Bolton Villas and Azad could well be battling for the one promotion spot from Division One but may face stiff competition from Smart Moves and Tong Park Esholt, who both narrowly missed out last year.
