Farsley have moved top of JCT600 Bradford League Division Two after defeating previously unbeaten Spen Victoria.

Andrew Duckworth (76) and Mark Harrison (53) set the tone for the Rams with a first-wicket partnership of 131 as their side overhauled Spen’s 212-7 in 41.3 overs.

Joe Greaves, the 2011 Gordon Bowers young cricketer of the year, capitalised on the good start with an unbeaten 49.

Farsley are one point ahead of New Farnley, who beat previous leaders Keighley by two wickets to record their third successive win.

Keighley were dismissed for 187, Freddie Pearson (62), Richard Robinson (34) and Matthew Bottomley (33) being the main scorers for the visitors.

New Farnley openers Matthew Good (52) and David Cummings (38) shared a stand of 95 but once they were parted, wickets started to tumble as Tom Stead (4-45) and Ross Towler (4-55) attempted to swing the game Keighley’s way. But Ian Fisher (42) and Peter Ross (30) ensured that New Farnley reached their target.

Undercliffe’s new opening batsman Hamid Khan continued his good form since joining from Methley with a maiden Bradford League century as his side hammered Windhill by 216 runs.

Khan struck five sixes and 18 fours in a magnificent innings of 131 which helped his side post the day’s highest score of 280-4.

Skipper Ben Heritage (55) gave Khan great support in a first-wicket partnership of 192. Mohammed Altaf (36no) built on their good work as Windhill’s bowlers were made to suffer.

Windhill’s reply was a sorry tale. They were bowled out for 64, with Michael Kelsey (5-26) and Nawaz Sardar (3-17) impressing.

Bowling Old Lane overseas player Devraj Patel took 7-28 as his side sent Gomersal spinning to a 43-run defeat.

Teenager Siraj Hussain (41) and Ahsan Butt (37) were the top scorers for Old Lane in their 180.

Patel’s performance was topped by Great Horton’s Mohammed Ibrahim, who took 8-21 in his side’s 15-run defeat at Idle.

Ibrahim’s fine effort enabled Great Horton to dismiss Idle for 119. Kiwi Nick Cumming (31) top-scored for Idle and followed up with 5-36 as his side dismissed Great Horton for 104 to secure their first win. Waj Hussain took 4-20, while overseas player Irfan Haider top-scored for the losers with 36.

Bankfoot overcame Brighouse by five wickets to record their first win, Aaqib Uppal making 63 as they chased down Brighouse’s 140.

Mohammed Daud (47) and Umar Salim (43) provided the bulk of Brighouse’s runs against some steady bowling from James Sawyer (4-26) and Nigel Hanson (3-26).
