Yorkshire failed to claim the breakthrough they were desperate for against Durham at the Riverside this morning.
Beginning their second innings with a lead of 60 on day three, Mark Stoneman and Keaton Jennings built a platform that left their side on course to consign Yorkshire to a second consecutive LV= County Championship defeat.
They had a decent slice of luck but went in at lunch on 84-0 from 32 overs, leading by 144. Stoneman began the afternoon session on 48 not out, with Jennings unbeaten on 34.
Yorkshire did not bowl badly but their fielding was off colour – highlighted by a regulation drop from Jonny Bairstow behind the stumps off Tim Bresnan to let Stoneman off the hook on 11.
The Durham pair accrued a number of their runs via edges wide of the slips but they will not have minded one bit.
