Promoted Clayton came unstuck against a Tom Wood century as SBCI began their defence of the Foster’s Halifax League title with a 64-run Premier Division victory.
Wood overcame the loss of opening partner Simon Hampshire with the score on seven to blast nine fours and three sixes in his total of exactly 100 as SBCI posted 229-8, despite the best efforts of Nick Bickers (6-51).
Oliver Benson and Robin Hanson then got in among the Clayton top order as they were restricted to 165-8 (A Shafique 51).
Oxenhope also missed out in their opening Division One game as Northowram Hedge Top edged a five-run verdict.
Opening batsman Nick Hall (72) steered Hedge Top to 250-9, Liam Dyson picking up 5-86 and then striking 49 at the top of the Oxenhope order.
Josh Tetley picked up the challenge with a knock of 53 but the reply ended just short when he was caught on the boundary.
Neil Crosland claimed four victims as Outlane inflicted a four-wicket defeat on Queensbury, who were all out for just 109.
Shelf posted their intentions in Division Two with a crushing ten-wicket success over Augustinians, who fielded just eight players and were all out for 81 (Robert Ramsden 4-28.
Wibsey Park Chapel were also ten-wicket winners after rushing out Greetland for 42 (Matthew Jordan 6-14).
