Buttershaw St Paul's hope to improve on last year's mid-table finish in the Solly Sports Central Yorkshire League First Division but new secretary Ian Gregson suggests "it could be a hard season".
"We have not managed to recruit the players we would have liked so it is a question of going with what we have and, as we have always done and always will, try and bring our own young players through.
"In the meantime, a lot rests on the shoulders of all-rounder Paul Carroll, who will captain the side."
Carroll, who has Bradford League experience with East Bierley and Pudsey Congs, will, however, miss the opening game at Hopton Mills on Saturday.
Elsewhere in Division One, Liversedge are at home to Methley A and Scholes are at Ossett A, filling the gap left by their promoted first team, and newly-promoted Mirfield start with a game at home to Wakefield St Michaels.
In the Premier Division, Mirfield Parish are at home to new-look champions Wrenthorpe, who have lost key players to Bradford League sides, while last year's strugglers Batley and Birstall are at home to Altofts and at Carlton respectively.
