Jonny Bairstow and Adil Rashid shared an exhilarating century stand to dig Yorkshire out of a hole during the second afternoon of their three-day match against Lancashire at Headingley today.
The sixth-wicket pair recovered the score from 106-5 to help the hosts reach tea on 209-5 from 54 overs in reply to 269-7 declared.
After losing four wickets before lunch, Gary Ballance was the only man to depart during the afternoon when he was run out from cover.
Bairstow reached 86 not out and Rashid 56 not out, with both men playing their shots with an eye-catching fluency.
Rashid has by no means been overshadowed by the England Test batsman.
