New secretary Taj Butt reckons the Bradford Mutual Sunday School League need to become more flexible when it comes to bringing in money.
At the league’s first meeting of the new year at Clayton Rugby League Club, Butt said: “It is time to look elsewhere for our income than affiliation fees.
“There are ways of bringing money into the league if we work together, such as sponsorship.
“We also need to look at our buying power. If a club buys 20-odd balls every season, how much buying power would we have as a league if we bought 600-odd?”
In his welcome speech, Butt said: “You have entrusted me with this very important position.
“I have a lot of experience over the past 25 to 30 years in cricket and in football.
“You have got used to Joy (previous secretary Wigglesworth) doing it her way but I am going to be doing things in a different way, although it is not that my way is better or worse.
“I am also secretary of Great Horton Church Cricket Club but I will make sure that I am accessible to most people.
“Most evenings I will be down at the cricket ground but you can also get me on my mobile, although remember that I have a family as well.”
