The Bradford League Umpires’ Association have elected a new life vice-president.

Glyn Pearson, who served the association as both secretary and chairman before standing down in 2011, received the accolade at their annual meeting at Cleckheaton Sports Club.

He follows former association stalwarts John Hardaker and Tom Priestley - his predecessor as chairman - in becoming a life vice-president.

Pearson, who is the England & Wales Cricket Board’s Association of Cricket Officials’ (ECB ACO) education officer for the North of England and is also responsible for regional appointments, is one of the best-known figures in local umpiring circles.

Last season he took charge of the initial Sovereign Health Care Priestley Cup final between East Bierley and Manningham Mills.

The Umpires’ Association have elected a new appointments’ secretary.

Neil Johnson has taken over the post held for the past 25 years by Andrew Bullock.

Johnson, who played for Idle before becoming an umpire, is also secretary of the Bradford Junior League.

He will be using the new on-line appointments’ management syssten which the league has purchased as an extension of the the player registration system.

Richard Jones was re-elected to the association's executive, while Ray Osborne was elected for the first time.
