Steeton missed their chance of going top of the West Riding County Amateur League Premier Division the previous weekend when they conceded a last-minute goal to draw at home to Golcar United.

But they left nothing to chance on Saturday when they hit hosts Littletown for six.

Damian Whiteoak scored two to add to strikes from Andy Long, James Longley, Chris Simpson and Arley Barnes in a 6-2 win. Lee McKeown and Joe Jagger netted for Littletown.

Steeton ’s move into top spot was aided by Hall Green United drawing 1-1 at Campion and Lepton Highlanders being thrashed 9-0 at Bay Athletic.

Hall Green looked on course to take all three points after Chris Burnham gave them the lead in the second half but their hopes were shattered when Curtis McMahon equalised to give Campion a hard-earned point.

Lepton – who after two consecutive promotions were among the early pacesetters in the top flight – were given a finishing lesson by their Huddersfield neighbours.

Bay Athletic scorers were Nathan James (3), Brighton Mugadza (2), Craig Burns (2), Danny Ryan and Kieran Ryan.

It was Lepton’s heaviest defeat since joining the league.

Salts striker Kyle Berry, whose goals last season helped his side gain promotion after nine years playing in the lower divisions, saw his hat-trick against Marsden count for nothing as the visitors had Steve Richards, Dean Sidiq, Callum Meade and Dave Brennan on target in a 4-3 away win.

A hat-trick from Andy Gregory and two goals from Steve Fullard saw last season’s champions Ovenden West Riding record a 5-1 win over Storthes Hall, with Gavin Armitage netting the hosts' consolation.

Ventus Yeadon Celtic’s stay at the top of Division One lasted only a week after they were beaten 6-2 at Tingley Athletic, with Terry Hargreaves netting both Yeadon’s replies.

Wakefield City returned to top spot and extended their unbeaten start to six games when Ryan Barker netted both their goals in a 2-1 home win over Lower Hopton.

Campion’s Reserves slipped to their third defeat in four games after going down 3-2 at Halifax Irish, with Campion’s goals coming in the second half from two converted penalties by Paul Noble.

Albion Sports picked up their first win of the season with a narrow 5-4 success over basement side Storthes Hall Reserves.

Elsewhere, Hunsworth, with first-half goals from Joel Farrar and Danny Wood, were heading for a point at Huddersfield YMCA, only for teenage striker Teboho M’Pala to score the winner and complete his third hat-trick in five games.

In Division Two , West Horton and Salts Reserves extended their 100 per cent starts to stay in third and fourth behind leaders Golcar United and second-placed Bay Athletic Reserves, who have played one game more.

West Horton, with strikes from Lee Smith, Gareth Naylor, Asif Chunara, Kamran Khan and Ashraf Shazad, beat Hall Green United Reserves, while Salts Reserves – with Richard Magson netting four – beat Dudley Hill Rangers 5-3, Chris Gibbons scoring two of Rangers’ goals.
