Farsley 1 Ramsbottom United 1

Farsley failed to break their seven-game winless run when Saturday’s clash against newly-promoted Ramsbottom ended in frustration.

The home side had taken the lead but were pegged back and had to settle for a point.

Manager Neil Parsley said: “It was disappointing to be held after getting our noses in front. We played really well but half-time came too early for us.

“We had been on top in the first half but just couldn’t extend our lead. Their keeper very much kept them in it at that stage – he made some great saves. Even in the second half he made two top-class saves to deny Ryan Watson.”

The home side took the lead in the 15th minute when a shot from Gareth Grant beat Rams keeper Grant Shenton.

That appeared to motivate the visitors’ number one and he was in tip-top form after that, making one superb save to deny Adam Muller’s first-half volley.

Ramsbottom grabbed the goal that earned them a point when Lee Gaskill netted just after the hour mark but Grant went agonisingly close to a late winner.

Parsley added: “We were still without Ben Jones so our striking options were limited.

“He is doubtful for Tuesday’s home game against Ossett Town. It looks like Saturday’s re-arranged fixture at Garforth Town is more realistic for Ben’s return.”
