Gary Jones has vowed that City have got their New York nightmare out of their system.
The Bantams can expect another mass following at Accrington on Saturday as they look to restore pride following last weekend’s dismal defeat at Rotherham.
With no midweek game, there has been plenty of time for everyone to stew on a 4-0 loss that nobody saw coming.
Phil Parkinson has taken the opportunity on the training ground to try to right the Rotherham wrongs and Jones cannot wait to restore faith among the fans with a big performance against Stanley.
The skipper said: “We wished we could have played again on Tuesday to put things right. Last week was an off day to put it mildly.
“We’ve been playing really well and been together as a tight unit. But then we were second best all over the pitch against Rotherham and thoroughly deserved what we got.
“But that’s football for you. When you’re feeling high one minute, it’s got a funny way of kicking you up the backside the next.
“The 2,000 supporters who paid their money deserved a lot better and we know that. We can just hold our hands up and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
“Training is tough this week and it should be. The shape of the team needs to get better and we’ve got to get back to being more compact again.
“We’re a good team and that was just one bad result. We’ve got the next game now to bounce back.”
Accrington were beaten 2-0 by Morecambe in the JPT first round on Tuesday but boss Paul Cook had made nine changes.
Meanwhile, no announcement has been made yet about the Steve Evans disciplinary hearing with the Football Association which took place yesterday.
Evans is alleged to have acted indecently in front of a female City official after the home game against Crawley last season.
