The FA Vase first qualifying round saw good victories for Liversedge and Thackley but a defeat for FA Cup heroes Eccleshiil United.
Sedge had home advantage for their tie against North Shields and edged through after a tense period of extra-time.
Their visitors had taken a second-half lead through Adam Rountree but James Rothell netted a last-gasp equaliser to take the tie the full distance.
Following the dramatic 88th-minute leveller, Sedge left it late once again as Kieran Corley bagged the winner two minutes from the end of the second extra period.
It was a far more regulation win for Thackley as they eased into the second qualifying round with a storming 5-1 victory at West Allotment Celtic.
Chris Davey began the scoring just after the half-hour with a header and he netted a direct free-kick on the stroke of half-time.
Adam Hill extended the Dennyboys’ lead early in the second half but Sean Reid pulled one back from the penalty spot on the hour.
The visitors were also awarded a penalty when Matt Morgan was tripped and he got up to net from the spot before Hill wrapped up the tie with his second of the game.
Eccleshill have won through two rounds in the FA Cup but exited the Vase after falling at the first hurdle. They were beaten 2-1 at Darlington Railway Athletic in another tie that went to extra-time.
The Eagles took the lead through Brandon Roane just after the half hour but Darlington forced the added period when Freddie Huscroft levelled the tie with a little over four minutes of normal time left. Graham Whitehead got their winner in the 112th minute.
