Phil Parkinson shuffled the City pack for their Capital One Cup clash with Watford and made six changes.
Jon McLaughlin got his first outing of the season in goal and there was a debut at left back for teenager Carl McHugh. Stephen Darby returned at right back with Andrew Davies given the night off to rest a slight knock.
James Meredith moved forward to left midfield to replace Kyel Reid, who was on the bench. Will Atkinson took over from Nathan Doyle in the middle alongside skipper Gary Jones.
Both strikers had changed from the five-goal salvo against Wimbledon. Garry Thompson was given the centre forward role with Alan Connell playing just off him.
CITY: McLaughlin, Darby, Oliver, McArdle, McHugh, Hines, Jones, Atkinson, Meredith, Connell, Thompson. Subs: Doyle, Hanson, Hannah, Reid, Baker, Bass, Duke.
