Liversedge 0 Thackley 1 The visitors took the spoils from this Baris Northern Counties East Premier Division derby at Clayborn.
Liversedge had started the season like an express train, racking up a maximum nine points from their first three fixtures, but the wheels came off against their local rivals.
Eric Gilchrist’s men have not merely lost their share of the leadership but have also now been overtaken in the table by Thackley .
The only goal of the game came when the Dennyboys’ Mark Bett converted a 29th-minute cross from open play with a glancing header.
There were chances in the second half for the visitors but the home side remained in the game.
Dennyboys’ keeper Mark Bower had to make four top-drawer saves to deny Kieran Corley, Gibril Bojang, Darryl Leach and Joe Jagger.
However, Bett, Nicky Matthews and Brice Tiani all threatened to add to Thackley’s lead.
Both sides played their full part in the game but a victory for the Dennyboys was the acceptable outcome.
They host new leaders Worksop Parramore tomorrow, while Sedge have to regroup for their trip to Scarborough Athletic.
