Leeds United manager Neil Warnock is confident that his new skipper Lee Peltier will be fit to lead the side out at Peterborough tomorrow in the npower Championship.

Peltier was a worry after Tuesday’s defeat at Black-pool when the manager revealed afterwards that he had popped his shoulder during the first half but played on through the pain barrier.

“Lee popped his shoulder on Tuesday but he wants to play so I think he’ll probably be okay,” said Warnock.

However, the Elland Road boss is ruling out Paul Green for the foreseeable future. Republic of Ireland international Green sustained a knee injury during last weekend’s win against Wolves and missed the midweek trip to Blackpool.

“It’s looking like a grade two strain or a tear,” said the boss. “We’re hoping four or six weeks, but it could be eight weeks. I had the dreaded feeling with it being his knee.

“He had a good pre-season and it’s a blow to us but he’s a good healer, so with a bit of luck it might not be as bad.

“It’s difficult to replace him the way he was playing but we know what we’ve got and we’ll get on. It gives an opportunity for someone else.”

Teenage striker Dominic Poleon, who netted in the development squad’s draw with Derby County on Wednesday at Thorp Arch, could be added to the squad.

Meanwhile, Queens Park Rangers have written a formal letter of complaint to Leeds over text messages sent by former Bradford Park Avenue goalkeeper Paddy Kenny on Saturday.

The 34-year-old, who left Rangers for Leeds in the summer, is alleged to have sent abusive messages to technical director Mike Rigg and chairman Tony Fernandes.
