The decision to postpone Crow Nest Park Golf Club's Captain's Day proved a wise move as over 100 members competed in fine conditions for the re-arranged competition at the Brighouse venue.
Nevertheless, captain Steve Brown looked relieved as he made his presentation speech during the evening function because his brave decision last month paid dividends as the golfers had played in near-perfect conditions.
Scoring was excellent, with a host of golfers shooting a commendable two-under-par nett score of 68, with Jimmy Fitzpatrick taking fifth place on countback.
Fourth was Issac Nichols with a nett 67, third David May with a brilliant net 66, which was all the more impressive given his double-bogey start on the first two holes, and following a countback, past Rabbits' captain, John Cryer lost out to form player Chris Taylor after both carded nett 64s.
It was Taylor's first major club win
The ladies' event was won by Veronica Whitehill, and the junior event by fellow fast improver Jacob Roche.
The Design House provided their ever-popular barbecue during the evening.
