After two weeks without playing, Farsley will get their new Evo-Stik Division One North season underway with a roses clash on Saturday as they head to Lancaster City.
Manager Neil Parsley and his assistants Mark Jackson and Simeon Bambrook planned their six friendlies but left the last fortnight open to work with the squad on the training ground, and they will be hoping it pays dividends with the players hungry for action at the Giant Axe ground.
Farsley will be looking to avenge last season’s opener in which they were beaten 3-1 at home by the Lancastrians. They racked up a double against Parsley’s men as they won the return match 4-1 in January.
Even then Lancaster finished outside the play-off places while Farsley secured a place, only to lose their semi-final at Witton Albion.
Garforth Town also booked a play-off spot, finishing just below Farsley in the final table, but Parsley has raided the neighbours’ squad and prised three of their assets away.
Midfielder Chris Walton, striker Adam Priestley and defender Rob Pacey have all relocated to Throstle Nest.
