City will go back to Watford in the Capital One Cup second round.
The Bantams missed out on a money-spinning reward for their win at Notts County when they were handed another trip to Vicarage Road in lunchtime's draw.
City were beaten there 4-2 in the FA Cup in January, though both sides will be much changed since Gianfranco Zola took charge of Watford in the summer.
The tie will take place in the week beginning August 27.
It is only the third time in the last 11 years that City have made it past the opening hurdle in the League Cup.
