Work has started on the recently-approved plans for the Crow Nest Golf Club clubhouse extension, with local builders Jaytee Construction Ltd removing part of the car park.

Many members didn`t dare believe that the plans would be approved but they now have seen the impact that the new operators of the golf club and the new owners of the golf course have made, and that they are serious in their desire to make this facility the best of its kind in Yorkshire.

When completed, the extension will provide a function suite which can accommodate up to two functions at the same time, new toilet facilities and new upgraded changing facilities for the club's lady members.

The club's male members will enjoy larger changing facilities, and the clubhouse will provide a much- needed bigger kitchen and new office space.

The new function room will give expansive views over the club's 18th green and its fairway.

Local councillors David Kirton and Graham Hall who had both supported the club's planning application, visited the site and said how pleased they were that the project would bring much-needed employment into the area, both during the building phase and then after, as jobs will be created within the new function facilities.

They also expressed their pleasure that the new building would provide quality function and meeting facilities for the local communities of Hove Edge and Brighouse.

Work on the site is expected to be completed during early November, with the golf club's presentation night being lined up as the grand opening event.

It is anticipated that the function suite will be available for use and hire after its launch in November.
