Farsley Celtic 4 Redditch United 0

The Celts had to wait until the last minute of the first half to open the scoring but it catapulted them to their biggest win in this first season in the Conference North.

They hammered in four goals without reply, with both leading scorer Damien Reeves and centre back Ryan Crossley netting twice.

Redditch, one of the founder members of the division, had no answers to newcomers Farsley.

"We were clinical when we needed to be," said Celts boss Lee Sinnott.

"It looked an accomplished performance for this division, it tells me we are going in the right direction as a club. In the last five games we have won three and drawn two and that is good form in any league in the country.

"The whole team did well but Chris Stabb stood out for me. He captained the side with Carl Serrant unavailable and he was tremendous. But what can you say about Ryan - two seasons without scoring, then three in a week!"

It seemed that the visitors, who have struggled this term, would hold out until the break but there was a sting in the tail of the first period.

Celts striker Gareth Grant's through-ball found Dominic Krief, his shot was parried but Reeves followed up to slot in.

Just after the hour a shot from former Bantams striker Grant was blocked and Reeves was again well placed to fire in the rebound.

Reeves did not get a chance to complete a hat-trick as Sinnott substituted him to make changes to the system.

With a little more than 13 minutes remaining, any outside hope Redditch had of rescuing anything from the game was taken away.

Simeon Bambrook, one of the players introduced from the bench, drove the ball into the area and Crossley, who was on the edge of the six-yard box, lashed the ball high into the roof of the net. He then grabbed his second just two minutes from time after a goalmouth scramble.

The Farsley players were up in arms about a handball claim that would have resulted in a penalty. The ball dropped invitingly for centre back Crossley and he stunned the crowd with a super volley that found the top corner of the net from 12 yards.

The Redditch manager was so disappointed with his team that he threatened to make them board the coach home to the midlands at half-time of England's qualifier instead of allowing them to watch it as Farsley's guests.
