Jordan Missin scored twice as PREMIER DIVISION leaders Buttershaw White Star ended West Bowling’s 44-match unbeaten home record with a 3-0 Bradford Sunday Alliance League win.
A foul on Steve Hollingworth in the area gave Missin the chance to edge the visitors in front from the penalty spot after ten minutes.
That was the only goal of an otherwise even first 45 minutes but good work by Andy Benjamin and Missin set up Graeme Sides to double the lead early in the second half.
White Star goalkeeper Mark Bowers needed to make a couple of excellent saves to keep the defending champions out, with Gary Shaw and Stuart McCallum in good form for the hosts.
But unbeaten leaders White Star weathered the storm and, with Steve Bargh impressing, added a killer third goal through Missin four minutes from time.
Elsewhere, on another day that saw a number of fixtures fall to the icy conditions, Dudley Hill Rangers edged a five-goal thriller against Bolton Woods 3-2.
Adam Hird’s hat-trick proved decisive for the hosts, with Christian Innes and Dave Wright replying.
Queensbury needed just a single goal to win at Mill Lane.
A 4-0 home win for Oakenshaw enabled them to climb above opponents Peel Park into second place in DIVISION ONE.
An early goal from Mick Burke set the tone but it needed three goals in the last 15 minutes to end Park’s resistance, Jamie Brennan and Burke both finishing with two goals.
Leaders Thornton United returned to winning ways by defeating Cuedos Rangers 2-0 with strikes from James Hall and Ryan Canning.
Tyersal had substitute Jamie McKewan to thank for their late winner as they beat bottom side Allerton 3-2.
