Lancaster City 4 Farsley 1
There was more frustration for Farsley as they slumped to their biggest defeat of the season in Evo-Stik Division One North.
Lancaster City are one of Farsley’s rivals for promotion and they set down a marker with this 4-1 win.
The Lancastrians have two games in hand on Neil Parsley’s men who, despite this loss, are still two points above them in the table, holding onto fifth place and the last play-off spot.
A deflected shot from outside the area by Zach Clarke gave the home side a tenth-minute lead.
A superbly-struck volley from joint assistant player-manager Simeon Bambrook brought Farsley level but the home side still took a lead into the break after Alex Kingston headed in just before half-time.
It was obviously not Farsley’s day as they missed a penalty minutes into the second period, Ben Jones failing from 12 yards, and then went further behind after conceding one.
Parsley’s other joint assistant player-manager, Mark Jackson, was penalised for a challenge on Clarke and Lee Dodgson netted.
Moving into stoppage time, Dave Swarbrick added Lancaster’s fourth with a close-range finish.
It was a second defeat on the spin for Parsley’s men and they are now ten points off the summit following victories for top two AFC Fylde and Curzon Ashton.
Farsley have also played more games than all six of the other clubs currently in the top seven places.
